The English Premier League also known as the EPL is a league system that is usually contested by 20 football clubs. Each team or club plays a total of 38 matches throughout a playing season.

Over the years since its inception, there have been several African Players who have played in the Premier League and many have been so very successful in the league so far. In this article, we will be looking at the top 10 African players in the Premier League in no particular order.

Just because we mentioned a player first does not mean that he is the best of the 10. All the listed top 10 African players below in the Premier League are all amazingly good at their games. So in no particular order, they are:

1 Riyad Mahrez

Mahrez plays for the Manchester City football club in the EPL. He is indeed the definition of African excellence. He is a Manchester City forward player. The Algerian is a two-time premier league champion winner. He is a top scorer for the several football clubs he has played for in the EPL.

2 Sadio Mane

Mane plays for the Premier League club called Liverpool in the forward position and usually wears the shirt number 10. He has won the Player of the Month three times, snagged a Golden Boot, and scored a total of 77 goals so far in his Premier League games history.

Sadio Mane is from Senegal and led his country to the AFCON finals in the just-concluded 2019 AFCON games.

3 Alex Iwobi

Alex Iwobi is a top African player from Nigeria. This 23 years young African player is highly valued in the Premier League. He plays for Everton as a forward position player. Alex has scored a total of 12 goals in his Premier League record so far and made a total of 117 appearances.

4 Christian Atsu

Christian Atsu hails from the West African country Ghana and he’s one of the best African players in the Premier League. He plays for Newcastle United in the midfield position. He has made a total of 79 appearances and scored 3 goals.

5 Victor Moses

Moses is another top African player in the Premier League and he’s from Nigeria. He plays for the EPL club, Chelsea. Victor Moses has a total of 291 appearances and has scored a total of 32 goals so far. He also has 26 goal assists.

6 Mohammed Salah

Mo Salah is a top player from Egypt and among the highest-paid African footballers. He plays as a forward for Liverpool and scored a total of 70 goals so far in his Premier League record.

He has won The Golden Boot twice, Player of the Month thrice, and the Player of the Season once in the 2017/2018 season of the EPL.

7 Naby Keita

Keita hails from Guinea. This 25 years old Liverpool player has made a total of 32 game appearances and scored 3 goals. He plays in the midfield position and wears the number 8. Naby Keita is a top African player in the English premier league.

He has had two goal assists and he is also a top player in his country Guinea as well.

8 Romain Saiss

Romain Saiss is another African player worth mentioning that has been doing great in the English premier league. Romain hails from Morocco and he’s currently 29 years of age. He plays in the midfield position for the Wolver Hampton Wanderers.

He has made a total of 40 appearances and scored 4 goals with zero assists.

9 Cheikou Kouyate

Kouyate hails from the beautiful West African country Senegal. Cheikou wears the number 8 and plays for Crystal Palace. He plays in the midfield position and has scored up to 13 goals with a total of 184 appearances.

He also has 10 goal assists to his stats. He previously played for West Ham.

10 Idrissa Gueye

Gueye is a Senegalese top player and he’s one of the best African players in the EPL. He played for Everton in the EPL before moving to play for Paris Saint-German.

Different star players have emerged from the continent over the years and some of them have featured in the African Footballers of the Year. All in all, they are great African players who have set the record in the English Premier League.
