Two CCC Legislators In Police Custody Over Chitungwiza Clashes

Last night police arrested Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) deputy chairman and Zengeza West legislator Job “Wiwa” Sikhala as well as the party’s Chitungwiza North legislator Godfrey Karakadzayi Sithole.

The duo were picked for allegedly inciting violence that erupted in Chitungwiza’s Nyatsime suburb after angry mourners attending the late CCC activist, Moreblessing Ali’s memorial service went on a rampage attacking people and damaging property retaliating her murder.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed their arrests and said they are assisting with investigations.

Several youths who took part in the disorder were also arrested and are facing various charges from arson, malicious damage to property and incitement.

The melee resulted in several houses being torched around the area including that of Zanu PF branch chairman, George Murambatsvina.

Vehicles that passed through the area were also not spared during the violent orgy.

Sikhala was representing the Ali family who are demanding answers for CCC activist Moreblessing Ali who was allegedly abducted at Chibhanguza shopping centre.

Her mutilated remains were discovered in a well at Simbarashe Chisango’s homestead, half brother to fugitive Pius Jamba who was last seen with the late CCC activist.

On Monday Sikhala announced that the Ali family had vowed not to bury Moreblessing until the culprits who murdered her had been apprehended.

He also warned that the perpetrators of her gruesome murder would all perish if they fail to apologise in time.

“This death of Moreblessing Ali, let me tell them and the whole Zimbabwe, the whole family shall perish whichever way we are going to do it the family will suffer. You might not hear about this family again, it will be wiped from the face of the earth if they are not going to apologise as soon as possible.

“Many people have volunteered to do the business to make sure the spirit of Moreblessing Ali will not rest until we avenge, and truly the avenging will be done,” said Sikhala.
