Zacc Impounds 11 Fraudulently Acquired Vehicles From Impala Car Rental

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) impounded eleven vehicles worth close to US$400 000 from Impala Car Rental amid reports the vehicles were fraudulently acquired, the Zim Morning Post has heard.

The vehicles were impounded after Zacc launched an investigation which also involves a top Zimbabwe National Army official who played a crucial role in the acquisition of the vehicles.

“The vehicles include two Isuzu trucks, four sprinters and five Toyota Fortuners,” opined the source.

“Zacc is keen to interview the senior military personnel, but he is reported to be evasive and is now a person of interest.”

The source also said the senior military official was heavily involved in facilitating the acquisition of the vehicles under probe.

“The vehicles were acquired without paying duty,” said the source.

The car rental company is also teetering on the brink of collapse following formation of a splinter company known as Legacy Car Rental which has offices located at 6 Devine Road, Milton Park, Harare.

After Dondo’s death, his wife Matirasa Francisca, who is a director, ordered an audit to establish the financial state of the company as she was taking from where her husband had left and suspected misappropriation of funds, our sources said.

The witch-hunt, however, ruffled feathers of other directors of the family-owned business. According to the company’s CR14 documents, Matirasa and the late Dondo’s sister Clara are listed as directors. Zim Morning Post
