“Zemura extends Bournemouth stay”

. . . describes deal as early Christmas present

Zimbabwe international defender Jordan Zemura has signed a new contract with English Championship side AFC Bournemouth.
The deal will see the 21-year-old, who made his competitive debut for Zimbabwe national team last month, staying at the Vitality Stadium until 2022.
It also came after his breakthrough, in September, into the first-team in a Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace.
Zemura, a graduate of the club’s academy, also made his league debut for the side on Saturday, coming on as a substitute for Adam Smith in their 5-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.
And reacting to the new deal, the Warriors full-back described the development as an early Christmas present.
“My mum was really happy and my dad was more on the father-son vibe. ‘So What’s next? What are you going to do to get the bulk contract? What are you going to do to improve?’
“Even my little brothers were buzzing. It feels like more of a Christmas present and birthday present. I think the whole family was really excited for me and its part of how far I have come,” said Zemura.
The left-back, who has netted four times for Bournemouth’s Under-21s this season, is among youngsters tipped for greater heights.
His commitment to play for Zimbabwe has also seen him winning hearts of local football followers and was impressive when he made his debut against Algeria in the back-to-back African Cup of Nations qualifiers in November. Nhau/Indaba
