Power supply to the national grid has recently improved countrywide following technical processes that are ongoing in preparation for the synchronisation of Hwange Unit 8, Zesa has announced.
In a statement, the power utility apologised to affected stakeholders and assured them that it is in the process of harnessing measures to mitigate the power deficit challenges and increase capacity.
“Zesa Holdings is pleased to advise its valued stakeholders of the improved power supply in the country, which has led to reduced incidences of load curtailment to most of our customer segments. This achievement was as a result of various measures and stabilisation of performance of the Hwange Unit 7 which is undergoing commissioning tests and has been able to supply a full load of 3300MW to the grid in some instances”.
“Likewise, a lot of technical processes are ongoing in preparation of the impending synchronization of the Hwange Unit 8 which will add 300 MW to the grid,” it said.
Businesses and the general public have been enduring a minimum of 14 hours a day without power supply, a situation that attracted unbearable viability costs giving consumers an extra headache at a time the economy is ravaged by untamed inflation. Nhau/Indaba
