Zifa Manicaland will conduct an induction workshop for Checheche based new clubs who will form the core of the Checheche Division 2 League, provincial administrator Kundai Makwarise has confirmed.
The workshop has been scheduled for October 29 at Checheche Primary School.
Clubs in Checheche mooted the idea of a new league to ease travelling logistics to fulfill fixtures in far away places.
Makwarise said the clubs will be inducted on the league’s regulations.
“An induction workshop for new clubs setting up a League in Checheche has been organised for October 29 in Checheche. The clubs will be taken through the league rules and regulations. We will also teach them how to manage their respective clubs and duties of executive members. We will also touch on player registration on FIFA Connect. We will also put structures and conduct training courses after the setting up of the League,” said Makwarise.
ZIFA Manicaland Province Division 2 League is divided into three leagues-Chipinge (comprising of Chipinge, Chimanimani and Checheche teams), 2A (comprising of a mixture of Mutare and surrounding areas) and 2B (which comprises of Mutare and surrounding areas).
If Checheche league is formed successfully the province will have four Division 2 leagues.
At the end of the season, two top teams from the league clash in the promotional play-offs that will see one team being promoted to the more fashionable ZIFA Eastern Region Division One League.
Checheche United director Samson Sithole said they are targeting more than 16 teams to join the Checheche League.
“We want to start our League with teams from Checheche. All interested teams are invited from Chipangayi or Mahenye we want them to join our league. We are expecting more than 16 teams to join the League,” he said.
So far teams that have indicated willingness to join the new League include Konjana, Matikwa, Chisumbanje,Checheche United, Checheche City , Esperance and Tongogara.
In 2019 the Chipinge Division 2 League had 37 teams.
“Having new teams coming to join us is obviously a morale booster given that some teams have folded due to effects of Covid-19. As ZIFA, we welcome the development,” said Makwarise. Masvingo Mirror
