The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) has dismissed false social media reports circulating purporting that the 2022 Ordinary Level results have been cancelled.
This follows information disseminated by an alleged parody account on Twitter and a named online publication which informed the public that the examination results had been annulled.
In statement Tuesday, ZIMSEC dismissed the false information and revealed that, the council was in the process of finalising its performance assessment of the controversial exams that were infested with paper leaks.
“We are in the process of finalising assessment of the 2022 Ordinary Level performance and have completed the marking. The processes which precede the release of the results are currently underway.”
“We advise all stakeholders to disregard these speculative attempts to cause panic and despondency and await official updates from ZIMSEC.”
“There have been false reports circulating on social media, particularly from a Zimsec parody (false) Twitter account and an online publication (named), purporting that the Ordinary Level results have been cancelled.
“Zimsec has issued no statements on pass rate of the 2022 Ordinary Level examination candidates or cancellation of results. These reports are published in mischief to cause anxiety amongst candidates and parents,” reads the statement.
Results for all candidates who had pre-access to question papers at different examination centres throughout the country were cancelled.
They were identified during the examinations and at the marking stage of their scripts. Nhau/Indaba
