ZIMSEC Sets Interbank Rate For 2024 Exam Fees

THE Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) has pegged the interbank rate which shall apply when making payments for the 2024 November Ordinary and Advanced level Examination fees.

In an official circular distributed by ZIMSEC, examination registration fees is pegged in United States dollars but the fees are accepted in the currency which the parents/ guardians are comfortable with.

ZIMSEC announced that for those opting to pay in ZWL the interbank rate that was prevailing on March 19, of ZWL 18, 981.00 to US$1 would be used to allow for a uniform registration fee during the open period.

The grace period will run from March 19 to March 26, at the prevailing interbank rate.

“The exchange rate to be applied for ZWL payments will be ZWL 18,981.00 to 1 USD. Payments must be made into the ZWL Accounts of schools or centres of registration.”

Furthermore, ZIMSEC clarified that while fees are quoted in USD, parents who wish to make payments in USD or Rands can do so until the registration closing dates but those who would like to make payments in ZWL will use the rate announced by the examinations management body.

It was emphasized by ZIMSEC that examination fees should not be directly remitted to ZIMSEC accounts by individual parents. Instead, candidates/parents are instructed to make payments to their respective schools or registration centers for onward transmission to ZIMSEC. Nhau/Indaba
