Officer Commanding Matabeleland North, Commissioner Erasmus Makodza, has been granted Z$10 000 bail by Harare magistrate Stanley Mambanje on corruption related charges.
Makodza was arrested yesterday by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) for alleged criminal abuse of duty or alternatively concealing a personal interest from a principal after influencing the Zimbabwe Republic Police to enter into a business agreement with his girlfriend at one of its farms in Mashonaland East in 2019.
As a result the organisation did not benefit from the transactions thereof. He was remanded to March 2 after being ordered not to interfere with witnesses until the case is finalised.
Mambanje ordered the accused to report to the police once a month as part of his bail conditions. Nhau/Indaba
