Acting Auditor General Mrs Rhea Kujinga, has called on newly qualified accountants to play a crucial role in boosting the nation’s economy.

Speaking at the graduation and award-winning ceremony for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) from Premier Business School (PBS) in Harare at the weekend, Mrs Kujinga underscored the importance of applying their acquired knowledge to benefit Zimbabwean businesses and the wider economy.

“Make the best advantage of the knowledge gathered to make a significant contribution towards Zimbabwean businesses and the economy at large,” she said.

The Acting Auditor General also reminded the graduates of their responsibility to uphold the values of ACCA, which are accountability, diversity, opportunity, innovation, and integrity.

“You, being ambassadors and advocates of ACCA means there is tremendous expectation of upholding the values of ACCA, which are accountability, diversity, opportunity, innovation and integrity,” she noted.

“I therefore, urge you as entrants into the profession to embrace these values as they are central to protecting the public interest and to achieving sustainable economic growth.” In his remarks, PBS founder Mr Ngoni Alex Robbins said the institution has recorded several successes since its inception in 2012.

“PBS was the pioneering college in Zimbabwe to be awarded the ACCA Gold tuition provider status by ACCA Global in 2013. Thereafter, we became the first and only tuition provider in Zimbabwe and the 7th in Africa to be awarded the most sought-after ACCA Platinum tuition provider status in 2015.

“In the same year, Premier Business School introduced the revolutionary two-in-one first-ever A’ level plus diploma programme. Through this programme, Cambridge A’ Level commercial students concurrently sit for the ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business Studies,” he said.
