Parents usually have a hard time coming to terms with the wayward behaviour of their children, particularly those that amass wealth, become famous and turn out to be disrespectful or spend their riches with strangers.

Ginimbi and friends’ deaths have laid bare this conundrum.

Both Ishmael Amuli and Anderson Kandungure, Moana and Ginimbi’s fathers, respectively, have made jaw-dropping comments about their recently deceased children.

The type of comments are generally not expected of grieving parents, who have just lost their beloved children. Zimbabweans and the generality of those that followed these colourful characters on social media have reacted differently as well.

For the next few days – as Ginimbi’s burial nears, and for the next few weeks as DNA tests are conducted on the charred bodies found inside the Rolls Royce Wraith – the drama is likely to intensify.

Was Ginimbi In Good Books With His Father?
Nhau interviewed Ginimbi’s father concerning the death of his son.

During the interview, he looked untroubled and his attitude left many people questioning the father and son relationship. Many theories have been propounded.

Why did he appear carefree? This was the third death in the family after Ginimbi’s brother and recently his mother. Yet, the old timer was spitting lines that many people found strange.

Villagers who were milling around Ginimbi’s mansion on Sunday, murmured that there were simmering tensions between father and son.

These tensions were further buttressed by the Nhau interview in which the father revealed that Ginimbi had a child, which the family knew nothing about, not even his/her name.

“These are boys, they deal with women and leave them. You may never understand these guys. I only know of one child, whose name I do not even know. The child has never stayed here,” said Ginimbi’s father.

The sex of the child has not even been established or where they live and with whom.

Surely, how can a grandfather not know the identity of his grand child? Did Ginimbi and his father see eye-to-eye?

Ginimbi’s multi-million dollar mansion and it’s state-of-the-art equipment, and his father little cottage surrounded by huts are located roughly 400m apart. Many have been wondering if the difference in fortunes between father and son only ended with one living like a king and the other a slave.

Could there have been more to the differences? Did he assist his father materially at all? What about his late mother? Why did a young Genius run away from home at just 17 years of age? How bad could it have been?

Moana’s Father Blasts Daughter’s Wild Parties
Like Ginimbi, Michelle Amuli, popularly known as Moana Mimmie, a famed fitness coach and influencer, also traced her roots to Domboshava, where her dad lives.

Moana’s father, Ishmael Amuli, had still not accepted his daughter’s behaviour when she passed on in a horrific crash just after celebrating her 26th birthday.

He said she had become a party maniac due to the people she was spending time with. As a “video vixen”, she enjoyed a massive following on social media.

Moana’s father told the media that he last saw his daughter early last year after clashing with his daughter. He confessed that he had ended up slapping her because of her partying.

The final stroke in the father-daughter relationship was apparently when she divorced her husband back in 2017 before dumping her child in Domboshava, where the family lived.

She chose the celebrity life over her very own humble upbringing through the strict Muslim tradition, which has conflicted with her father’s ideals. Shortly before her death, she posed for cameras naked – further angering her father and family.

“In 2017, Mitchelle had problems with her husband, who came to drop their child in Domboshava. Mitchelle later came to pick her daughter and I sat down with her, telling her that I wasn’t happy with her behaviour. I heard a lot about my daughter that she had become a party animal and was featuring in several musical videos. I got angry and slapped her twice and she left home for good.

“Last year I saw her, but we never talked much. I am a Muslim and what she was doing was against our religion. Now how do I tell my elders at church and how will she be buried? We are now at her mother’s house in Highfield because I did not fully pay lobola for her mother. I still owe in-laws, but that is a story for another day,” he said.

Amuli broke up with Moana’s mother while she was still a toddler. Could this have caused the rift between the two? Did she have a proper upbringing?

Eventually she got pregnant, married and divorced before she turned 23. She was to become famous, hooked up with the most talked about influencer in Zimbabwe, Ginimbi, before meeting her fate on Sunday 8 November in a horrific accident.
