Zim dancehall sensation Freeman might have scored a first, in as far as the local music industry is concerned.
Born Emegy Sylvester Chizanga, the chanter is set to release an 11-track collaborations album.
Some of the names to feature on the album include Gemma Griffiths, Sandra Ndebele and Takura.
In an interview with Nhau, Freeman said the album is scheduled for release early December though he has finished recording.
“I have finished recording and for now I’m waiting for some of the online platforms we are working with to sort out their schedules and they have told us it (album) can only be uploaded early December.
“We have recently submitted our projects and we want to make sure that the music is available to our fans on all platforms, it’s also good for us revenue wise,” said Freeman.
Freeman, a proven specialist in collaborations, has promised fans something special for the festive season. He is currently riding on the success of his duet with sungura kingpin Alick Macheso.
He has previously done duets with the likes of Winky D, Ex Q and Lady Squanda among others.
In fact, his breakthrough, Joina City, is a collaboration with Cally C. And as someone who has managed to penetrate the industry with collaborations, the HKD boss has decided to treat fans with a full album.
“I’m someone who believes in building relations and giving fans the best. I have done a number of collaborations before with most of them topping charts. I have, therefore, decided to have a whole album,” said Freeman.
Freeman said he is going to do a digital launch on Facebook with some artistes who featured expected to perform.
“I am definitely going to do a launch online, obviously on Facebook with some of the artistes that featured,” he said.
He said the album is also meant to send a message of unity to fellow musicians.
“What inspired me to do this album was to preach the message of unity to fellow musicians.
“Of course, I have good relations with the most of these guys but some are new, take for example Gemma Griffiths and Sandra Ndebele,” he said. Nhau/Indaba
