Harare Provincial Head magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti Guwuriro has remanded Arnold Kamudyariwa aka DJ Fantan, Chillspot Records co-founder Tafadzwa Kadzimwe, popularyly known as Levels, and Simbarashe “Dammer” Chanachimwe in custody for sentencing tomorrow at 9am.
The trio appeared in court Tuesday and pleaded guilty to charges of partaking and convening a public gathering during a national lockdown in contravention of section 5(3)(a) of the Public Health (Covid-19 Prevention and Containment) Regulations of Statutory Instrument 77 of 2020.
Magistrate Guwuriro stated that she could not arrive at the sentence due to want of time and would need to apply her mind legally in the interests of justice.
“I need time to apply my mind judiciously so that the sentence would be ready by 9am tomorrow,” she said before adjourning court.
Fantan was arrested on Sunday after surrendering himself to the police while his colleagues were arrested yesterday. Nhau/Indaba
