Embrace Love & Forgiveness To Remain United


Indian Ambassador Vijay Khanduja has underscored that love and forgiveness are the best levels of morality for people to remain united in order to achieve various goals within their communities.

Ambassador Khanduja made the remarks while officiating at the Holi Festival of Colours celebration held in Harare last Saturday.

“This is a special day for us as we meet as family and friends while we put all our differences aside. Holi is a festival in which we forget all our differences as we meet embracing love and forgiveness so that we remain united in our communities,” Ambassador Khanjuda said.

Teen Rescue Mission (TRM), a Zimbabwean organisation that fights against drugs, early pregnancy and crime among teens and youths joined artists from the Indian community to entertai guests at the event.

TRM dancing group showcased their talent and mesmerised guests with their moves particularly with ‘Balam Pichkari’ an Indian song, with much applause from the Indian community before closing up their performance with Zimbabwean cultural dances.

Ms Juliet Kwenda from TRM expressed gratitude to the Embassy of India in Harare for opening the door to TRM teens and youths to come and perform at this great event.

“We are so happy that this platform gave our young ones the spirit to believe in themselves as they showcased their talents. Having them in this environment and performing on this level helps us as an organisation to validate our thrust to keep them sober and stay waya from drugs and alcohol.

She called upon cooperates, embassies and government to consider groups such as theirs to be part of entertainers at events they host as motivation for youths to remain positive and put something in their pockets through their talents.

“We want to applaud the Indian Embassy and the Indian Ambassador as this platform has been opening doors for us and promoting cultural exchange between India and Zimbabwe,” she said.

Aisha Mbele (17) who was part of the TRM dance group performance expressed her joy for getting such an opportunity.

“As a girl I felt positive with myself after the dance. I can do it as a girl with motivation especially y in this month where girls and women are celebrated. I want to thank TRM for what they doing to us young people and the Indian Embassy for giving us this opportunity as young girls and boys to show case what is in us,” she said.

Celebrated every year by the Indian community, Holi is a festive day to meet others, play, laugh, forgive and forget repairing broken relationships as they celebrate the arrival of spring. Nhau/Indaba
