INCESSANT RAINS LEAVE ROADS IN APPALLING STATE

Bindura roads have been hit hard by recent downpours the town has received over the last several weeks.

They are in a deplorable state.

A survey by Nhau has established that a number of roads the town are pothole infested, both within the central business district (CBD) and in the high-density suburbs.

Nhau witnessed a number of motorists struggling to navigate the damaged roads with some of the worst areas in the CBD being the corner of Emmerson Mnangagwa Road (formerly Atherstone Road) and Appleby, just behind Pick n Pay Supermarket.

The water-filled potholes at the T-junction can easily cause extensive damage to small cars and unaware drivers. The same state of affairs prevails at the intersection of the Harare-Bindura road and Robert Mugabe Road at the show grounds.

Motorists who spoke to Nhau expressed unhappiness with the town council for failing to rehabilitate the roads.

In Chipadze, heavy rains have left Chaminuka almost impassable. With poor drainage, the road has developed water pools, some more than three meters wide, filled with muddied water.

Access into the provincial showgrounds has also of late become laborious and a real tussle. A number of motorists and socialites who usually frequent the grounds for different services including food and beverages at a number of registered restaurants in there now prefer to park their cars outside.
