Katsande Faces Uncertain Future At Chiefs

By Ray Munyoro
Zimbabwe international midfielder Willard Katsande’s future at Kaizer Chiefs has come under the spotlight with his deal set to expire this June.
It has emerged the hard-tackling midfielder has been told to consider his future elsewhere by the current technical staff. The 35-year-old has struggled for game time since the arrival of new coach Gavin Hunt.
And according to The Citizen, a South African newspaper, Katsande is among the players that were told to move on.
“Bernard Parker and Willard Katsande have already been told that they will have to make space for new players in June when their current deals end,” reported the publication this week.
The former Warriors captain has, of late, failed to make match day team, possibly a clear message from the coach.
While Katsande could not be drawn into commenting on the issue, Nhau Sport gathered Hunt wants to do away with the old guard at the Soweto giants.
He believes their time is up and should pave way for the new generation. This is despite the fact that Katsande was a key member in 2019/20 squad that came close to clinching the championship.
Chiefs never lost 15 of the matches that the Zimbabwean featured last season. Katsande is among the longest serving members, having been with Kaizer Chiefs for a decade now.
He has won two PSL championships and two domestic cups with the Glamour Boys. Nhau/Indaba
