Mine Security Guard Shoots Self With Shotgun

By Richard Kawazi
A security officer at Bindura’s Dryden Mine allegedly shot himself dead with a service shotgun last Sunday.

A police memo seen by Nhau/Indaba indicates that the weapon accidentally discharged while holding it.

It reads: “On 19 February at around 3am Decide Musosote (30) was on duty at Dryden Mine armed with a shotgun. Eventually, the mine’s hammer mill broke down and he was asked by the mine manager to give welding rods to two miners who were working on it.

Whilst standing beside the two miners who were repairing the hammer mill, his shot gun eventually discharged shooting him on the abdomen.”

As a result, Dryden Mine manager, Charles Majoka rushed him to Bindura hospital where he was transfered to Parirenyatwa Hospital.

Unfortunately he died along the way. Nhau/Indaba
