Nhau/Indaba Entertainment Diary: Massive Gigs Lined Up

The rains that fell countrywide this week cooled down the summer heat, making this weekend perfect for outings at entertainment joints dotted all over Zimbabwe. Do not be left out as a lot awaits nightlife lovers as we slowly shift into the festive season and our artists are at their peak.

Here is what to expect:

Castle Lager Braai Fest
All roads lead to Old Hararians Sports Club tomorrow for the sixth edition of the National Braai Festival courtesy of Delta Beverages’ Castle Lager brand. It will be a mix of braai, booze and of course music headlined by dancehall King, Winky D.

Talented songbird Tammy Moyo will add to the mix alongside dancehall chanters Enzo Ishall and Dhadza D who are expected to keep the outdoor fiesta on fire. DJs composed of the Chillspot Family, Cesh, MC Etherton B, Rush, Naida and Andile Brown will be spinning the turntables.

Baba Harare Album Launch
Fireworks are expected tonight as Baba Harare launches his album titled “Prove Them Wrong”. Already visuals of his masterpiece song “Ndini Ndinaye” from the album, featuring songstress Gemma Griffiths is making waves on social media platforms.

In Harare, award-winning contemporary musician Jah Prayzah headlines the launch alongside Gemma Griffiths, musician and dancer Vimbai Zimuto and hip-hop artist Voltz at Padziva Camp & Caravan. Admission: $10 for general tickets, VIP $20 and VVIP $75.

Tomorrow Bulawayo fans will feel the album as he takes the launch to Palace Hotel where he will be backed by Voltz JT, Ndunge Yut and Iyasa. DJs Mandoza, Keitho and Ayaxxx will be on the decks.

Nkosazana Daughter @Jongwe Corner Harare, Chinhoyi
Tomorrow Harare’s Jongwe Corner will be blazing with vibes as South African amapiano singer and songwriter Nkosazanah Nolwazi Kimberly popularly known as Nkosazana Daughter clashes with dancehall chanter Silent Killer “Ngwere” alongside top urban grooves and R & B crooner Trevor Dongo.

MC Gudo, ZimDJ Fitzroy, DJ Sticko Fyah and DJ Tony Touch will be spinning. Admission: Advance tickets will be selling at $15 for two, $10 at the gate.

On Sunday the talented amapiano artist will travel to Chinhoyi for another epic gig supported by trending dancehall chanter Silent Killer among others. Admission will be the same as the Harare gig.

Solo Moyo Album Launch


Kadoma-based sungura musician Solo Moyo will launch his eighth album tonight at Chitungwiza’s Tanza Centre from 8pm till late. He will be supported by music and entertainment greats composed of Suluman Chimbetu, Leonard Zhakata, Progress Chipfumo, Obert Moyo, Kapfupi, Sir Gono, Kinnah, Sue, MC Khanyemba Bonzo and Phillip Makazhu. Admission $5.

Pink Friday In Masvingo: “Lake October”
Zimbabwe’s finest musicians will turn the City of Masvingo into a hive of activity tonight as Zim dancehall stars Winky D, Killer T and Enzo Ishall clash with Selmor Mtukudzi, Feli Nandi, Mbeu, Kingher, newly wedded Holy Ten and EXQ at Caravan Park for a live performance at the “Lake October” third edition gig.

DJ Liz all the way from Bulawayo will showcase her prowess among other supporting acts. Admission: Ordinary tickets will cost $10 for early birds and $15 for late birds while early birds for the VIP pay $25 and $40 for the late ones.

Kariba Festival
If you are into cruising and music, you must find yourself in Kariba this weekend where the fifth edition of the Kariba October Festival springs to life tomorrow.

An “After Cruise Concert” slated for Lake Harvest Sports Club will be headlined by Nyasha David, alongside Shonamite Jac and the Afro Jazz Band. DJs Tinashe Chikuse & Phathisani, DJ Liz, N Skimbo, Selecta Odza, Joe Mentro, Sir Rollex, Spurz Unruly, MC Smooth and Taisley. Admission: Kids $1, Adults $5 and VIP $10.

Macheso @Murehwa Centre, Matabeleland South
Sungura maestro Alick Macheso and his Orchestra Mberikwazvo Band start the weekend entertainment trail by descending on Murehwa Centre for a live performance at Camp & Caravan Park supported by his sons Esau and Tatenda.

Tomorrow he heads to Fiilabusi’s Marvel Joint for another bash. Advance general tickets cost $10 and $20 at the gate, VIP advance $20, $30 at the gate and $30 advance for VVIP who will pay $50 at the gate.

Senior Lecturer In Mt Hampden, Chiweshe
Sungura great Madzibaba Nicholas Zacharia will be at Chips Bar in Mt Hampden tonight with his Khiama Boys from 8pm till late. Admission: Cover charge.

Tomorrow he will be playing live at St Ross bar in Chiweshe from 7pm. Admission cover charge.

Summer Splash
The third edition of the Summer Splash kicks off tomorrow at First Capital Sports Club in Harare featuring DJs Made Her Believe, Reverb 7 and Chewedar. Lots of entertaining events including waterslides, pools, jumping castles for kids and various adult games will be in store for fans from 12pm till late.

Sulu, Kurai Makore Clash
Dendera crooner Sulumani Chimbetu will clash with Chimurenga musician Kurai Makore and the Black Lions tomorrow at Mushandirapamwe Hotel at Machipisa shopping centre in Highfield from 8pm. Admission: Ordinary $5, VIP $10 and VVIP $20.

Solo Moyo & Proggie @ Bar Rouge
Tomorrow Progress Chipfumo will play a solidarity act as he supports Solo Moyo to promote his latest offering, “ZvaMwari Hazvipikiswe” with a performance at Bar Rouge.

Silent Killer Rocks Murehwa, Chinhoyi
Man of the moment in dancehall circles, Silent Killer AKA Ngwere will be rocking it at Insomnia Night Club in Murehwa tomorrow before proceeding to Chinhoyi where he will play a supporting act to South Africa’s Nkosazana Daughter at Jongwe Corner on Sunday.

Juntal @Ambassador Hotel
Rumba specialist Juntal will be blasting out in the Fortress at Ambassador this Saturday backed by DJ Ben Mukulu and DJ Lakaz The Artist from 6pm. Admission, cover charge.

On The Roof Hosts Mannex
Reggae artist Mannex Motsi will be churning out his reggae songs on Saturday during a gig dubbed “ Reggae Summer Splash” at Travel Plazza in Harare’s Avenues from 7pm till late. Admission: $5. The first 10 ladies at the joint have a guaranteed free entry!

Party Under The Stars
Revellers who are into outdoor events are in for an epic act from hip hop singer Ishan who will perform live at the “Jungle Fever” gig slated for Kunaka Caravan Park in Gweru this Saturday. $10 before 6pm, cooler box $10 and VIP $20.

Frienzy Friday
Club Zone hosts “Frienzy Friday” tonight with R&B singers Trevor Dongo, and Ishan expected to rock the house. They will be supported by Bagga, Kesari and Smoothflow. DJs Koasta, Stapleton, Manando and Handsome Gudo will be spinning the turntables to electrify the night.

Morden Sungura Nite
“Simbi Hombe” Romeo Gasa will serenade guests with his sungura touch tonight at the Usual Place, Jameson Hotel from 6pm. He will be supported by Jah Lemmy and Guruve Marimba Arts Ensemble. Admission $5.
