Political Clash Claims CCC Activist In Glen View 7

Political violence has reared its ugly head in Harare’s Glen View 7 following the stoning to death of a Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist after a clash Thursday, police have confirmed.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said a statement detailing the actual circumstances will be released after investigators on the ground gather facts of what actually transpired.

Said Asst. Comm Nyathi:

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms an incident of public violence in Riverside area, Glen Norah near Tanaka Grounds, Harare on August 3, 2023 at 1pm.”

The CCC identified the victim as Tinashe Chitsunge and party national spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere condemned the violent attack.

“NO TO VIOLENCE: We strongly condemn the violent attack by suspected Zanu PF thugs on our members in Glen View 7 today. They assaulted and stoned our members who were peacefully heading to a rally. One of our members was murdered in the violent orgy. We demand justice and peace,” she said.
