Power Outages Rock Zim As Gas Prices Fall

Zimbabwe has been experiencing power outages of up to over 12 hours in some areas around the country since Monday.

The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has however attributed the experiences to high power demand due to increased economic activities.

“This is due to depressed generation on the grid coupled by increased electricity demand as a result of increased economic activities.” “Our engineers are working round the clock to ensure full restoration of service” ZETDC said in a statement.

The blackouts are expected to ease from September 16.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Electricity Regulatory Authority (ZERA), Wednesday announced a reduction of gas prices.

“Stakeholders are advised that the LPG for September 2022 calculated according to the Petroleum (Liquid Petroleum Gas Pricing) Regulations 90 of 21 are as follows: US$1.88/kg and ZWL1 078.09/kg,” reads the statement. Nhau/Indaba
