Desperate, residents of Chitungwiza had begun dumping garbage at open spaces.

“… This was due to a number of problems, chief among them being several vehicle breakdowns in our refuse collection fleet. As a result, there has been an accumulation of garbage over much of Chitungwiza and later dumping of refuse at open spaces,” the notice reads.

“The notice serves to inform our residents, rate payers and stakeholders that the Municipality has since outsourced for refuse trucks and starting today (20 January 2021, there will be an improvement as we expect that door-to-door service as well as clearance of dump sites shall be attended to comprehensively. As always we wish to discharge our service delivery mandate to your satisfaction.” Nhau/Indaba
