Michael Nees has officially announced the squad for the crucial African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers against Namibia, with Matchday 3 and 4 on the horizon.
The back-to-back matches will be played at Orlando Stadium in South Africa, as both Zimbabwe and Namibia lack CAF-certified stadiums for international fixtures.
The first match will be hosted by Namibia on October 10 at 3 PM, followed by Zimbabwe’s return fixture four days later at the same venue.
The announcement brings excitement, especially with the return of captain Marvelous Nakamba. The Luton Town midfielder, who has missed all international games this year due to injury, adds valuable leadership and experience as the Warriors strive to secure vital points in their qualifying campaign.
Also making a comeback from injury is Divine Lunga, while Terrence Dzvukamanja has been selected to strengthen the forward line. Martin Mapisa joins the goalkeeping ranks, and Brendan Galloway’s return bolsters the defensive options.
Nees’ squad includes seven local players, which is expected to enhance team chemistry and provide familiarity with the playing conditions. The squad comprises a mix of seasoned professionals and emerging talents, reflecting Nees’ strategy to build a competitive team for the qualifiers.
