Warriors star Prince Dube unsettled

Prince Dube’s stay at Azam in Tanzania could be short-lived amid indications some African club heavyweights have stepped up interest.
Nhau is reliably informed that some North African clubs are keen to snatch the Zimbabwean striker. His handlers have, however, played down the issue saying the player is not unsettled.

“They will, but even if nothing happens because the window is closed, there is May and June next year,” George Deda, the player’s agent told Nhau.

Prince rose from the bench for Zimbabwe against Algeria on Monday to score the goal that earned the Warriors a draw in a 2-2 draw.

Before the match, there was a lot of debate on whether he has what it takes to make an impression given his league is inferior compared to the leagues of his national teammates.

A source close to his club said apart from the enquiries from Africa, there are chances the player could actually move to Europe.

“There have been a lot of enquiries, no formal bid, but there is no doubt Azam will try to hold on to their asset,” said the source.

“There is belief that the player could actually attract bigger clubs and even those from Europe. It will take very big amounts for them to sell since he still has a running contract.”

Traditionally East Africa does not export players to Europe.

However, of late, the standards of football have been on the rise supported by stronger economies.

This has season a number of players from Southern Africa, including Zimbabwe, moving to Tanzania in particular. Nhau/Indaba
