The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) last Friday arrested an imposter who reportedly claimed to be an investigator with the Commission in Nyabira, Nhau has learnt.

According to a statement by ZACC spokesperson Commissioner John Makamure, Prosper Kaseke from Glen Norah, Harare, gave a lift to 3 passengers at Westgate on their way to Nyabira.

Not knowing that one of the passengers was a ZACC investigator, Kaseke identified himself as a field officer at the Commission and produced a fake identification card which was inscribed “National Anti-Corruption of Zimbabwe” before telling the passengers that he was on duty operating in the Banket area.

Kaseke allegedly told his passengers that he was a Captain and stationed at ZACC’S Herbert Chitepo offices further boasting that he had operated all over Zimbabwe including border areas and Kwekwe.

Upon arrival at Nyabira, the ZACC investigator who was a passenger requested for a stop over at a bus-stop and immediately arrested Kaseke.

He took him to Nyabira Police Station where he was detained.

Commissioner Makamure warned the public to be aware of such perpetrators and urged anyone who comes across these criminals to immediately report to the nearest authorities.

“If anyone is approached by these so called ZACC officials, they must request for a positive identification and if a demand of any sort is made, they must immediately report to this ZACC number +263242307065/6/7 or they can report to the nearest police station.” Nhau/Indaba
