The Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS) has officially launched in Harare today, promising a week of innovation, business, and international collaboration.
The event, running through Saturday, has filled all 76,000 square meters of exhibition space with over 560 exhibitors, marking a significant expansion from last year’s 410 exhibitors who occupied 53,300 square meters. This year’s increased participation reflects a 28 percent growth, underscoring the growing significance of the Show in the agricultural and business sectors.
The Show has also attracted a diverse array of international exhibitors. Eleven foreign countries—India, South Africa, Zambia, Pakistan, Eswatini, Japan, Russia, Mozambique, China, Malawi, and Tanzania—are represented, a notable rise from last year’s participation from just five countries. This international presence highlights the growing global interest in Zimbabwe’s agricultural innovations and business opportunities.
A notable shift in tradition accompanies this year’s event. For the first time, the Show will be officially inaugurated tomorrow by Mozambique’s President, Felipe Nyusi, deviating from the customary Friday opening. This change reflects the increasing prominence of the Show on the international stage.
According to Mr. Tawonga Miriyoni, ZAS Head of Programmes and Public Affairs Officer, preparations for the Show are well underway. “We are ready and everything is moving on. We are looking forward to a fruitful Show,” Miriyoni stated, noting that some exhibitors are still finalizing their stands. Safety and security are top priorities this year. The event will feature upgraded security measures, including modern CCTV cameras and drones to monitor the venue throughout the week.
Additionally, vehicle movement will be restricted within the business hub to enhance safety. Measures include tagging children with identification and addresses to ensure their well-being. The theme for this year’s Show, “Cultivating prosperity: Growing business. Innovating for change. Nurturing Our Future,” reflects its mission to showcase industry achievements, cutting-edge solutions, and the potential for future growth.
Attendees can look forward to a range of business and networking opportunities, with exhibitions and conferences designed to foster valuable connections and knowledge exchange. Visitors will also enjoy ample parking, food courts, and well-equipped facilities, including efficient gates and ticketing. The Glamis Arena will feature live performances from renowned local artists, adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the event.
