ZTA Leaving No Stone Unturned To Market #VisitZimbabwe

As confidence in the Zimbabwe tourism sector continues to surge, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) is leaving no stone unturned in bringing the country back to its spot as one of the best tourism destinations in the world.

Officials of the entity are exhibiting Zimbabwe at the ‘Tourism Expo Japan’ a feat organised by the Japan Travel and Tourism Association, Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) and Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO.)

Zimbabwe’s attendance at the fair culminates with preparations for the 15th Edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo to be held at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo from October 13-15 this year.

Key tourism players from the world over are attending the impressive Japan travel trade fair which kicked off Thursday stretching up to this Sunday running under the theme ‘Taking on the New Era’’

Zimbabwe is part of 12 countries from the Southern region under the SADC banner.

Others at the prestigious event include South Africa, Malawi, Botswana, Zambia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Mozambique, Mauritius, Angola and Tanzania.

ZTA Chief Executive, Winnie Muchanyuka said there was need to rapidly upscale energies to market Zimbabwe by participating in as many fairs as possible to recover from the two year Covid-19 induced setback.

“There is need to intensify our marketing efforts through active participation at Fairs such as these as they generate travel interest for our destination thereby regaining the market share that was lost during the Covid-19 period,” she said.

Tourism Expo Japan is one of the leading travel shows on the Asian calendar that offers both B2B and B2C networking opportunities targeting Asia’s leading travel trade and consumer outbound travel operators.

The fair was last held in 2019 and it attracted 1 500 companies from over 100 countries and a total of 250 000 visitors.

In 2018 Zimbabwe received a total of 34 214 tourists signalling a great potential that the Japan market has.

Meanwhile, ZTA Head Corporate Affairs, Godfrey Koti said Zimbabwe was more than prepared to host an estimated 100 buyers and 250 exhibitors during the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo.

“We are ready to welcome all our partners from across Africa and beyond to register to attend Sanganai/Hlanganani – World Tourism Expo to #MeetInZim, #VisitZimbabwe and indulge with international hosted buyers and media from key source markets on yet another physical B2B event,” he said.
